I Should of, Could of, Would of ROGER, June 8, 2024June 9, 2024 I Shoulda Coulda Woulda I was standing in line with the rain beating down on my head, trying to act cool like it didn’t bother me a bit being soaking wet, and trying not to look envious of everyone, who was holding umbrellas over their heads. Yes, I had heard the weather forecast, but like an idiot, I chose to ignore it. The teacher gave us this assignment three weeks ago and told us it would count as one-third of our mid-term grade. He also warned us, that he would not accept turning in our projects late, they would be counted as a zero. Here it is almost midnight, the eve of the due date and all I have is my name and date on the paper. My car has been making this funny noise for a few weeks now. I noticed the other day smoke coming from the exhaust. My buddies told me I should check the oil level and if that was ok, I should stop and get the problem checked out. I can’t believe I am sitting here, beside the highway in ninety-degree weather, late for an important meeting. Why do things like this happen at the worst times? This old roof on the house is only about thirty-three years old and sure, when it rains hard, it’s got a couple of small leaks. I called an expert to come out and look at it. He said he could fix the leaks, but it would be a waste of time. He said the roof should have been replaced long ago. But he’s probably just after my money, I think I can get a few more years out of it. After all, what could it possibly hurt? Sometimes things come right out of the blue, and without warning smacks us right in the teeth, leaving us standing there with stupid looks on our faces, and wondering what hit us. Then there are other situations, similar to the ones mentioned above. Whereby any reasonably competent person, with a few brain cells still left intact, should be able to see the handwriting on the wall, heed the warning signs, and prevent themselves from being put in these situations. If a credible source told you, that there is going to be a run on the banks that will take place this Friday, and when that happens, you will not be able to get to your money, use your credit cards, or write a check, what would you do? I doubt you would respond by saying, “Ahh that’s ok I’m just going to wait and see what happens.” No, you would head straight to the bank and withdraw enough money to tide you over in case, your source is correct. You would respond in the same manner, if you had a close friend who was an executive for a large grocery chain and he warned you, that supplies are going to be interrupted and said that you should stock up on groceries. So, I assume it may be fair to concede on the point, that if your source were reliable enough, you would heed their warnings and take action accordingly. The Holy Bible, which is God’s written word, was written by forty different people. Each came from various walks of life, and the writings occurred over a span of time, consisting of one hundred and fifty years. According to The Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy written by J. Barton Payne, the bible contains 1817 prophecies. The Old Testament contains, 1239 prophecies while the New Testament has 578. To date, many, of the predictions that were made have already come true. Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies, which were written some 500 years before his birth. So far, not a single prophecy has not been 100% accurate, and more are being fulfilled all the time. I can’t speak for the credentials you may require before considering a source to be reliable, but as for me, I put my trust in God. I would have to say, he has a long successful track record proving that he is not only in the know, but keeps his word as well! Who do you believe? Science is good, I’ve always been curious and had a love for science, but at a very early age, I discovered they are consistently making retractions, and revising theories that were represented as facts, (some that were admissible in court proceedings). It seems like, every day they tell us something is killing us, that they previously promoted as being healthy and vice versa. Science is good, but I won’t go as far as saying completely reliable. How about Google, it knows everything, right? Tic Toc, Instagram, oooh I know, Wikipedia, where anyone can add their two cents. Ok, I give up, should we just put our faith and trust in the Government? God’s word tells me that Jesus is coming back! That’s good enough for me. If you want to laugh at me, that’s OK with me. Scorn me, call me any name you want. If God says it, I believe it. There have been some of the most highly educated men and women in the world attacked and tried to discredit my Lord and his Holy Word, since Jesus’s days. And yet, He is still on the throne, he’s still performing miracles, and prophesies continue to be fulfilled. The Bible continues to be the highest-selling book in history. And if all this isn’t enough proof than I am truly saddened for you. Noah preached repentance of sin and warned people the end was coming for about 120 years. They didn’t believe him either. But when that rain started falling and the water started rising, guess which fool with a boat they ran to. But the door was sealed and they were left standing there thinking, I wish I would have, when I could have, I know now that I should have. And so will it be, the day The Son of God returns to claim his people. There will be crying and weeping, anguish beyond our imagination. People will be pleading and begging for just one more chance. But at that point, it will already be too late. And no one will be able to say they hadn’t been warned. Don’t be that guy without an umbrella, or like the others who chose to ignore what should be obvious. Don’t allow yourself to make the worst mistake of your life. Once the rain starts, it’s too late to fix the roof, and when the trumpets sound and Jesus returns, it’s too late, to say I’m Sorry. Read: Revelation 22:6-21 RecommendedReading “A CaseFor Christ” by Lee Strobel It’s not an easy read, however, if you have any doubts about God, or wish to have an answer for those who do, I highly recommend this book.
