Your vote Counts More Than You Think!

            We have an election coming up very soon where we will all, in one form or another, cast our ballots for one of the two candidates. I have heard all over the media that nearly everyone is saying this is the most important election in history, and I wholeheartedly agree. Depending on which side of the fence you are on, they are portraying that one side stands for evil and the other for good. One side will lead to prosperity and happiness and the other ruins. The claim is one candidate cares about you and wants to help you live a better life, and the other is lying to you and wants to take everything you have that’s worthwhile and use it for their own selfish and greedy agenda.

            So, what are you supposed to do if you have no personal knowledge about either candidate? I’m sure we can all agree that we can’t rely on the media to offer fair and unbiased information. It’s not like we can spend time with the candidates and question them personally. So maybe the best we can do is examine their track records and see what they have done in the past. Both candidates have been in positions of authority and have remained in the public eye for quite some time now. So maybe analyzing past actions, performance, and choices will give us some insight into their character or the lack of it.

            It never ceases to amaze me how enthused and emotional people can get when it comes to an election. Lifetime friendships have dissolved over differences of opinion. Families become split over who they want as their next leader. The stock market, major banks, and multibillion-dollar companies cower at the possibility of the wrong person sitting in that chair. Many people are willing to donate their time, energy, and money to ensure their candidate wins, and some dedicate their entire life to backing their choice. But there are always the apathetic ones, they are unconcerned about who their leader is and remain uninterested until it affects them directly.

            Let’s get back to examining the two candidates’ records. If you will bear with me for a few moments, I want to play a little game. I will describe their records, and you see if you can determine which candidate I am referring to. To simplify these statements, both candidates will be referred to as He or Him, this should not be viewed as a clue to their identity.

Candidate #1; Stands on a long and proven track record of success, where he started with absolutely nothing and turned it into a place fit for kings but all mankind can call it home. He has never mixed his words, been afraid to speak his mind, or changed who he is, to suit anyone else. He holds great wealth and power and has a magnificent plan for this country, our people, and the entire world. His decision-making skills are unmatched, and his wisdom seems endless. People who know him personally say, “You could never find a better friend,” “I can count on him when there is no one or nowhere else to turn,” and “He has never failed me.”  Others accuse him of being controlling, harsh, and too judgmental. In an effort to be fair, I must say, when questioned, the people making those accusations admit that they hardly know him.

Candidate #2; Is a media sensation, and seems to make friends and followers everywhere he goes. He’s welcomed in social circles with the Hollywood elite and is a master at getting his message out to the mainstream media. He targets his messages towards the youth but remains relevant to all age groups. He is a proclaimed liberal. He champions the belief that every man should be free to pursue their own ideas of right and wrong and be free to do whatever makes them happy. He promises to govern as one of the people, for the people, and by the people. However, those who pay attention to history claim, that he is a liar, and will promise and say anything to anyone, in order to gain their trust. They also accuse that people who have had dealings with him in the past have not fared very well.

            So, do you think you know who the candidates are, judging by this brief description of their records? Here is another clue, one of them has openly declared that if you don’t vote for him, your vote will be cast for his opponent by default. He says that you are either with him or against him. Did that help, or do you still have no clue? Are you saying to yourself, that kinda sounds like my man, but not really? Here is another clue; both candidates do not believe in term limits or in sharing their power and sovereignty. What, still nothing? I thought by now I had all but given it away. OMG, it just occurred to me why, you are having so much trouble figuring this out. Lol, you thought I was talking about the Presidential Election that is coming up! That’s why this caught your interest. That explains your abundant curiosity and why it was important enough to spend your time reading this. I am so sorry I have misled you. I am only referring to the decision we must all make, concerning the rest of our lives here on earth and where our souls will spend eternity. Given that, you probably are not interested in finishing this story.

            I should apologize for my sarcasm, but I won’t! It absolutely makes me nauseous the hype and attention people give to a political race for a temporary position within our government, but don’t seem to be concerned with which ruler their humanity is loyal to, and whether they spend eternity in Heaven or Hell! I’m not implying that this or any other election isn’t important and we shouldn’t be concerned with it. But my concerns over this upcoming election pale in comparison to the number of lost people out there, who either don’t know they are lost, or don’t care. Your life probably won’t be that much different living under the authority of either of the presidential candidates. A president is extremely important, but their powers only go so far. But giving your life to God or Satan is as far apart as is possible. And yet so many don’t seem to care. Just like I was saying, you need only check their track records to see, that God has a whole book recording his past works and decisions, and Satan does most of his work in the cover of darkness. Whos’ authority do you choose to live under? And as I stated earlier, to those of you who don’t care enough to find out, if you don’t choose to follow God, by default you belong to the Devil! Read Mathew 12:30.

            Man, everywhere I go and everything I see, someone is screaming Get Out and Vote! Christians, is that not what God has commanded us to do? Did he not instruct us to get out and spread his word? Are we not responsible for encouraging people to get to know the Lord? It’s a sad state of affairs when the grassroots efforts of a political campaign outshine the evangelistic work, we Christians are supposed to be doing! If you are not sharing your testimony, or telling people about the goodness of God, then who will? If we aren’t spreading the Gospel of Christ, then the other side will reach them first. One thing I admire about Satan and his army is that they are not lazy, nor are they quitters, they work non-stop recruiting every soul they can over to the darkness. They don’t play fair they don’t tell the truth. They use every trick and vise known to man to steal more souls.

            It’s time for Christians to rise up and unite under one purpose and that is to share with others, what God has given you already. There is no good excuse that we can’t all be doing something for the glorification of our Savior and our Creator. Don’t let the blood of one innocent soul be on your hands because you were too weak and timid, or too indifferent, to share the Good News of God. Pray to God to strengthen you and embolden you, so that you too can lead someone to the Lord. When you consider the inheritance that we are promised for doing God’s work, God doesn’t ask too much of us. The Apostle Paul refers to the believers he led to the Lord as his crown, that he anticipated receiving in the presence of God. While none of us can save someone else, I can not imagine any greater joy, than playing a small role in saving someone from spending their eternity in Hell. And likewise, I can’t imagine a greater sorrow than to think you might have helped and didn’t.
